What Is a Dental Bridge?
A dental bridge consists of two crowns and one porcelain tooth. Your dentist will shave down the two teeth on either side of the gap (the anchoring teeth). The two crowns are then affixed to the anchoring teeth, which hold the replacement tooth in its proper position. For missing teeth at the back of the mouth, a cantilever bridge with only one anchoring tooth is used.
Should You Consider a Dental Bridge?
Missing teeth can have various health effects. When a tooth is missing, the other teeth can shift around, causing overcrowding and a misaligned bite. Many people with missing teeth also feel self-conscious about their smile. Dental bridges are an excellent way to aesthetically mimic the natural tooth while simultaneously restoring its function.
