Dental Crowns in Vancouver
When damaged or decayed teeth are left untreated, it can cause additional dental issues in the future. If your teeth are damaged, broken, or decayed, your dentist may recommend dental crowns. These tooth-shaped caps restore the aesthetics and function of your teeth.
Dental Crown Materials
Dental crowns can be made from a variety of materials. These include porcelain, ceramic, resin, and metals such as gold and nickel. Metal crowns come with the benefit of added durability, while porcelain, ceramic, and resin mimic the natural appearance of the tooth.
The Dental Crown Process
The creation and application of a dental crown will require two appointments. In your first appointment, your dentist will take dental X-rays of the teeth they are treating. They will prepare the tooth by removing part of the outer layer of the tooth with the handpiece. They will then take a scan or an impression of the prepared tooth and send it to the dental lab to fabricate your crown. A temporary crown will be fitted until the permanent crown can be placed. You will then come back to our clinic in a week to 10 days to have the permeant crown cemented one you have approved the look and feel of the crown.
